Nature Teaches us to Surrender
Look at the vast expanse of the ocean with
its ever-changing shades of blue and its infinite waves incessantly
on the move. Look at the enchanting beauty of the sky the very
glance of which widens our being and strikes us with its ever-shifting
sights. Its silent everlasting and ever new orchestra suddenly
bursts into sounds, sometimes sweet, at times frightening. Are
they not the marvels of the Lord who is always in flux and yet
ever in Peace? What are we in the great galaxy of stars? Not even
a dot! What is our individuality? Nothing!
And yet, a spark of His Light abides in us lighting our way quietly
in the life's journey, whether we are conscious of it or not.
We are so much attached to the moment even though we see everything
around us changing all the time! Instead of living and enjoying
every moment, we wish to possess and hold on to it if it is sweet
and cry over it when it is hard or bitter, knowing very well that
nothing lasts and we have to move on - all the time. Life is a
movement, ever forward, ever higher, ever brighter. We forget
that this is the natural process of our evolution, the earth's
evolution.
Every moment is unique and it teaches us something, reveals something
beautiful, to make us progress and go forward if we only live
deeply and not superficially in our artificial network of feelings,
emotions, desires, thoughts, ideas and preferences. We have to
let go of all ties that hold and bind us.
It is a joy to watch the various trees on the road. Sometimes
we notice a few flowers on the ground and when we look up we see
beautiful flowers of different colours inviting us to feast our
eyes. They look charming in big clusters - white, red, pink, orange,
violet and gold. Whenever the flowers are ready, it is so touching
to see the trees making a spontaneous joyous offering of their
blossoms so gracefully to the Lord! That is the very reason of
their existence! To offer to the Lord what He has blessed them
with. And immediately comes to mind the difference between man
and the tree! Man is greedy to possess more and more.
We must learn the art of letting go from the trees and live a
happy life free from attachments and possessions by offering to
the Lord whatever He gives us, with a firm faith that the Lord
who has created us will always provide for us.
We have to be free like the Light within which has the Power to
aid us and lead us if we only switch on to It, and follow the
guidance of this unfailing friend. So let us offer every moment,
every joy, every difficulty, every problem to the Lord, to live
in His Light and Delight.
O Lord, O marvellous Friend, O all-powerful
Master, penetrate all our being, transfigure it till Thou alone
livest in us and through us!
The Mother
And we shall fulfill the purpose for which
He sent us on earth.
