General Information
This is a pretty evergreen
small shrub, with a height of around 60 cm. It grows best in partial
shade in tropical and subtropical areas. It is easy to grow and
is multiplicated by softwood cuttings during the rains or cooler
months. It is a good cut flower with its small star-like flowers
in dense corymbs. The beauty of the plant is that it blooms practically
around the year and requires little pruning. Its place of origin
is tropical Africa.
In a way it looks like
a dwarf Ixora with its tubular five lobed flowers in compact circular
heads. It makes an attractive group or hedge. The leaves are bright
green, opposite, elliptic and covered with soft hair.
God and Light
Here are two beautiful
quotations from Sri Aurobindo and the Mother on Light and its manifestation
in the world.
Our sense by its incapacity
has invented darkness. In truth there is nothing but Light, only
it is a power of light either above or below our poor human vision's
limited range. For do not imagine that light is created by the
suns. The suns are only physical concentrations of Light, but
the splendour they concentrate for us is self-born and everywhere.
God is everywhere and wherever God is, there is Light.
- Sri Aurobindo
The light is everywhere.
The force is everywhere. And the world is so small.
- The Mother
