General Information
A native of Brazil this
plant is now extensively cultivated in all tropical and sub-tropical
parts of the globe. It is a pretty climber with bluish purple flowers
borne in axillary compound cymes. It flowers even when very young
and can be multiplied through cuttings or seeds. It prefers cooler
places and blooms also in shade. The fruit is a berry, glabrous
and scarlet.
