Clinical Study on Obesity

A Project Titled "Therapeutic Evaluation of Homoeopathic Medicines in Treatment of Obesity". is going on in HCRC since April 2003. The project is for three years and is done under the auspices of Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare Department, (ISM&H), India. Obesity is an excessive accumulation of body fat leading to excessive weight gain. Patients with body Mass Index 30 and above are being registered and till date 243 patients are under treatment.

Clinical Study on Keloid

A Project titled "Scope for Treatment of keloid in Homoeopathy and Allopathy" was taken up by the Homoeopathic clinic and research centre (HCRC). All scars that progressively increase in size and cease to be confined to the healing wound but invade the surrounding skin and produce bulky tumorous tissue are clinically called as Keloids.

The Results of Homoeopathic Treatment were as follows :

• Regression of keloid: complete regression (90%) or a partial regression in the size and surface area .

• Symptomatic relief - in pain, itching and infection etc.

• Disappearance of complications of keloids. E.g. Sinuses, abscesses, ulcers etc.,

• Progress and Recurrences of keloid being checked.

• The patients were relieved from many other associated ailments along with keloid as the treatment in homoeopathy is holistic therapy.

The salient features of the project were as follows:
 

• This Project was done under the auspices of Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare Department, (ISM&H), India.

• A comparative study between Homoeopathy Vs Allopathy for treatment of keloids was done.

• It was done in Collaboration of two institutions SAIIIHR and JIPMER (SAIIIHR: Sri Aurobindo International Institute for Integral Health and Research, Pondicherry.) (JIPMER: Jawaharlal Nehru PostGraduate Institute for Medical Education and Research Pondicherry, (Department of Plastic Surgery).

• Total no. of patients treated were : 392

• Duration of project was 3 years (Feb 2000 and March 2003)

Academic Activities

Clinical Training: With the aim of inspiring young physicians, the institute accommodates trainee physicians so that they learn to go deeper into holistic approach in medicine and work in the light of Mother and Sri Aurobindo's teachings in health and healing.

Clinical Workshop of Skin diseases: On August 26th 2002 ,28 Participants attended the workshop. the Key note speaker were Dr. V.S. Subramaniam, Villupuram, Tamil Nadu and Dr. Arati, SAIIIHR, Pondicherry.

Public awareness programs : Press conference for publicity in local Media about Homoeopathy and Keloid were done along with it Programs were telecasted on Doordarshan Kendra, Pondicherry and JVR (Local Cable TV Channel).

Diagnostic camp: Free Homoeopathic camp for the Heart Diseases was conducted During the period 17th to 22nd March, 2002 totally 152 patients were examined.
