the service of Beauty and Truth"
This is our motto at Aurofilms, a small but visionary film production,
research and training unit, located at Pondicherry in South India.
And where shall we find an ideal more beautiful, more difficult to
achieve, more inspiring to work towards or with? For us it is our
guiding light, our sole motivator, our point of reference.
We have started with many a dream and many a hope of making each
of these dreams a reality. Our scope will include all types of films
- full length feature films, docu-dramas, educational films, children's
films, films on the environment, social and cultural issues and films
on India. One may say that there is no dearth of such films already
being churned out. True. Therefore, Aurofilms will have a meaning
and a purpose only if it can come in with a different approach and
make a difference to this field.
Our aim is to dive deeper into each subject, be it dance or art or
nature or education, or even a story, and provide a new look, fresh
insights, into the very core of the subject, its relevance and its
ability to enhance our own progress. By progress we mean here not
just an external growth that can be measured but a growth of our inner
being.
We are not looking at a mere portrayal of events but actually seeking
to explore and bring to the surface those qualities or hidden elements
that escape the human eye or are little understood by the human mind
and yet those are the very insights that can help one to understand
the essence or the soul of the subject as versus simply its superficial
nature.
Today there is an enormous upheaval in every aspect of human life,
both external and internal, as well as an increasing receptivity and
awareness towards a process of change. Films, whether on the big screen
or the TV, are a major influence in shaping the young and growing
minds. Reorienting ourselves is the mood of the moment - however,
the ideas, the direction, the intuitive approach that one needs to
take is still lacking. Aurofilms does not proclaim to fill in all
the gaps or bring in the missing ingredients - but it nevertheless
endeavours to.
Aurofilms will bring together people from all over the world who
are inspired by these ideals. Along with Production it will be a centre
of Research in all aspects of film making. It will also be a centre
of Training for the young, not only in the technical aspects but also
in moulding their character, in strengthening their idealism, and
helping them to develop their inner potentialities.
We are here at the service of Beauty and Truth and all that may be
within its realm will necessarily come within the purview of Aurofilms.
The circumstances may have shaped our vision. Our vision hopes to
shape the future.

OUR
OBJECTIVE
1. To make films of all types, based on the above ideal - full length
feature
films, docu-dramas,
educational films, children's films, films on
environment,
social
and cultural issues. There will be a special emphasis
on
films related to
India and Indian themes and ethos.
2. To make films for worldwide distribution which will be of the
highest
quality in
technical perfection, which will be gripping and interesting
and yet be inspired
by a deeper and a spiritual seeking.
3. To carry out Research in all aspects of film production and distribution
so as to
bring higher values and a new approach into this powerful
medium, and to
bring together all those who would like to work and collaborate
for this purpose.
4. To be a centre of Training for all who aspire to work in the fields
of
films and mass
communications without compromising their ideals,
to help them to develop
their creativity and potentiality to the maximum.

AND ACTIVITIES COMPLETED
Aurofilms is engaged in the production of quality films and documentaries.
Already a short feature film and a few documentaries on the Ashram,
Sri Aurobindo and the Mother and other related topics have been produced:
DVDs
Samarpanam (32 mts.)
Made in DVD PAL format, Language: original in Tamil, available with
Hindi dubbing and English and French subtitles.
A moving short feature film set in a village background, highlighting
a deep friendship between a Hindu and Muslim who were caught in the
midst of their village community which is highly susceptible to communal
clashes and violence.
VCDs
Sri Aurobindo - A Life Divine
Available in 2 languages: English and Hindi

It contains the following two documentary films:
1. Sri Aurobindo - A Life Divine (22 mts.)
A documentary on the life of Sri Aurobindo, made in 1993 and telecast
by the Doordarshan, the Indian national T.V.
2. Sri Aurobindo's Vision of the Future (20 mts.)
A documentary on the all embracing spiritual vision of Sri Aurobindo
based on his five dreams.
Flowers
- their Spiritual Significance
Available in 6 languages: English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and

1. The Silent Language of Flowers (10 mts.)
An enchanting poem in celluloid on the deep and hidden aspiration
of flowers.
2. Flowers and their Spiritual Significance (30 mts.)
A beautiful presentation of the spiritual significance of flowers
as revealed by the Mother, and the occult significance of colours,
shapes and fragrance.

1. Sri Aurobindo - Glimpses of His Life (20 mts.)
A documentary on the life of Sri Aurobindo, made in 1972.

Presents the ideals, the life and the activities of the Ashram.
3. A New Experiment in Education (21 mts.)
Presents the pioneering attempts towards a new system for an Integral
Education as followed in the Sri Aurobindo International Centre of
Education.
